- How to build a walking habit that sticks
Make it automatic
Habits are built by repetition in the same context, not by willpower.
Start smaller than you think#
Five minutes, or two on a bad day. A habit you do daily beats a workout you dread.
Tie it to a cue#
"After my morning coffee, I walk." Set your cue in Your corner and it shows on the timer.
Make it easy to start#
Clear the deck, shoes by the treadmill, safety key clipped on, show queued up.
Track it#
A streak, a chain of ticked days, or a fridge chart. Seeing progress keeps it going.
After a missed day#
Just walk the next day. Missing once barely matters; missing twice starts a new pattern. Streak freezes forgive one missed day a week here.
