- Walking for stress and mood
Walk it off
A short walk is one of the quickest ways to take the edge off a bad day.
What a walk does#
Movement can lift mood and ease tension, and many people notice a difference within minutes. Regular walking is associated with less stress and better mood over time.
Make it calmer#
- Leave the news off. Try music, a favorite podcast or nothing at all.
- Breathe in for four steps, out for four steps.
- Finish with the 1-minute breathing cooldown on the timer.
On the hardest days#
Use the 2-minute 'bad day' setting. It still counts, and it often turns into five.
You don't have to do this alone#
If you're feeling low most days, or having thoughts of harming yourself, please talk to your doctor or a mental health professional. In the U.S. you can call or text 988 any time.
