The 12 Steps

One page, big type. Print it and put it where the laundry used to be.

  1. We admitted our treadmill had become furniture.
  2. We came to believe a 5-minute walk could restore us to motion.
  3. We made a decision to clear the deck.
  4. We made a fearless inventory of our excuses.
  5. We admitted to ourselves, and to one other person, that we were starting.
  6. We became entirely ready to go slow.
  7. We humbly put on our shoes.
  8. We made a list of everything we'd rather be watching.
  9. We made amends with our body.
  10. We continued to show up, and when we missed, promptly started again.
  11. We sought to add a minute here and there.
  12. Having had a breakthrough, we carried the message to other treadmill owners.
