- Walking when you're a busy parent or caregiver
For the busy ones
You look after everyone. Five minutes a day for you is not selfish.
Use the cracks in the day#
- Nap time, the first 10 minutes after school drop-off, or while dinner's in the oven.
- During a phone call you'd be on anyway.
- After everyone's in bed, a short slow walk to unwind.
Make it part of the routine#
Same time, same cue. 'After I start the dishwasher, I walk.' Habits stick when they're attached to something you already do.
Safety with kids around#
Keep children out of the room while the belt runs, and remove the safety key after. See our kids and pets safety guide.
Caregivers#
Caring for a loved one is exhausting. A short walk can help with stress. If you're running on empty, ask about respite care in your area; you deserve support too.
