Getting good care
Too many people in bigger bodies hear 'just lose weight' instead of getting their symptoms checked. You deserve full care.
Before you go#
- Write your top 2–3 concerns, in order.
- Note when symptoms started and what makes them better or worse.
- Bring our printable questions about starting to walk.
In the room#
It's OK to say: 'I'd like us to look into this symptom the way you would for anyone.' You can also ask to skip the scale if it isn't needed today, or to not be told the number.
Ask for the right size#
Blood pressure cuffs, gowns and chairs come in larger sizes. Asking is reasonable.
If it isn't working#
You can ask for a different clinician or a second opinion. Bringing someone with you can help too.
