Walking on BP medicines
Blood pressure medicines and walking work well together. A few medicines change how exercise feels.
Heart rate may run lower#
Beta-blockers can keep your heart rate down, so heart-rate zones may not fit. Use the talk testIf you can talk but not sing, you're at moderate intensity. If you can't talk, slow down. instead.
Dizzy on standing?#
Some medicines can make you light-headed. Stand up slowly, hold the rails, and cool down gradually instead of stopping suddenly.
Water pills#
Diuretics mean more bathroom trips and fluid loss. Plan walks around them and drink as your doctor advises.
Never change doses yourself#
Ask your doctor or pharmacist if walking makes you feel unwell.
