- Sweating a lot when you walk? That's normal (and manageable)
Sweat, no shame
Sweat is your body's cooling system doing its job. Bigger bodies make more heat, so they sweat more. That's it.
Why it happens#
Moving a bigger body takes more energy, which makes more heat. Sweating also tends to start sooner as you get fitter, because your body gets better at cooling.
Stay comfortable#
- A fan pointed at you is the single biggest upgrade.
- Moisture-wicking clothes and a towel on the rail.
- Walk in the coolest part of the day or with the AC on.
- Drink water before and after.
Afterwards#
Shower when you can, or use wipes and change into dry clothes. Antiperspirant works best applied at night.
When to mention it to a doctor#
Heavy sweating without exercise or heat, night sweats, or sweating with chest pain, dizziness or feeling unwell.
