Walking with lupus
Low-impact activity like walking is often recommended for lupus. Pace yourself, and ease off during flares.
Pace it#
Short, regular walks on good days; rest on flare days. A treadmill indoors also avoids sun exposure, which can trigger symptoms for some people.
Joints#
Flat, slow and steady with supportive shoes. Stop if a joint becomes hot, swollen or newly painful.
Ask your rheumatologist#
About activity during flares, and whether any of your medicines affect bones, muscles or your heart rate.
