A pause, not a punishment

Walking isn't a way to 'pay off' food. But a few minutes of movement can create space between a feeling and a reaction.

Try the 5-minute pause#

When you notice a craving that's about stress, boredom or sadness, walk five minutes first. Then decide. Sometimes you'll still want it, and that's fine.

Name the feeling#

The walk journal has a mood check. Noticing 'I'm lonely' or 'I'm wiped out' is useful on its own.

Never as punishment#

If you find yourself walking to 'make up for' eating, step back. Walk because it helps you feel better, not to earn food.

Get support#

If eating feels out of control, or you binge and feel distressed, talk to your doctor. Eating disorders are common, including in bigger bodies, and treatable.
