After bariatric surgery
Most bariatric teams want you walking soon after surgery, then building up. Their plan comes first.
Early weeks#
Short, frequent walks help circulation and recovery. Follow your team's limits on lifting and core work.
Fluids and energy#
Small sips through the day matter more than ever. Low energy is common while you're eating small amounts; walk shorter, not harder.
Building up#
Add a few minutes each week. Add strength work when your team says it's OK, to help keep muscle as weight comes off.
Call your team if#
You have chest pain, shortness of breath, calf pain or swelling, fever, vomiting, or you can't keep fluids down.
