Walking for bones
Weight-bearing activity like walking helps bones. With osteoporosis, the priority is avoiding falls.
Why walking helps#
Bones respond to load. Regular walking, plus strength and balance work, is part of most bone-health plans.
Fall-proof your walk#
- Hold the rails and clip on the safety key.
- Start slowly, flat, and step on and off carefully.
- Wear supportive, non-slip shoes.
- Add balance exercises a few times a week.
Ask your doctor#
